If you’re not sure where to start, there are several local businesses out of DC, Maryland, and Virginia that are up and running right now and would love to help you get started. Curbside pickup and/or delivery is available at all businesses to ensure that you and the employees practice social distancing and your order arrives safely.
Merrifield Garden Center
The Merrifield Garden Center has been serving Virginia since 1971 and they aren’t stopping now. Between their three locations in Virginia they carry over 7,500 varieties of trees, shrubs, annuals, and perennials so you’re sure to find exactly what you’re looking for. Once you’ve decided what you’d like to order, place it at the store or call your preferred location to schedule curbside pickup or delivery. Merrifield offers deliveries seven days a week starting at an $85 delivery fee as well as curbside pickup at all three locations. A unique offering of Merrifield is their Plant Diagnostic Clinic. If you’re already a plant owner and one of your plants seems to be struggling you can bring in a sample and photos and they will help you to troubleshoot and solve the issue.
Cultivate the City
Cultivate the City was created to inspire healthy and sustainable living by empowering communities with tools and training for urban agriculture. Their rooftop farm in NE DC, H Street Farms, offers gardening resources as well as plants that are available for curbside pickup or delivery. Denchfield
Denchfield’s motto is “If you can dream it, we can design and build it!” and they’ve been designing and building in the DC area for 25 years. In addition to landscaping services, Denchfield has a nursery that offers online ordering and delivery with free delivery for orders over $100. Delivery fees start at $30 for orders less than $100. What started as a roadside produce stand in 1979 has now grown to retail store servicing Potomac and the surrounding areas specializing in outstanding service. They offer a 3 year guarantee for their products ranging from flowers to firewood to Christmas trees. Shop for and order flowers, houseplants, accessories, and more online and when your order is ready you can swing by for a curbside pickup or schedule a delivery. The delivery fee is a $29 flat rate or free for orders over $300 and deliveries can be expected within 48 hours. Curbside pickup is available for orders over $30 from their Potomac location. Olde City Garden
Olde City Garden is a locally and veteran-owned full service garden center in the Brookland neighborhood in Washington, DC. While their retail space is currently closed, their online shop is up and running and ready for browsing. Peruse their shop on their website and after you place your order online they’ll deliver your products to your door for $25. They’re currently delivering to all neighborhoods in Washington, DC for minimum orders of $50 as well as parts of Maryland and Virginia for minimum orders of $100.
