Here are three things you should do if you want to buy in 2022.

If you’re considering buying a home in 2022, here are three things that you should do first:

1. Check your credit score. Sign up for credit monitoring if you haven’t already because identity theft is on the rise. I can't tell you how many times in a year somebody goes to apply for pre-approval, and there's something on their credit that they didn't know about. Issues can take months to be resolved and put a damper on house shopping.

2. Start budgeting and saving as early as possible. The longer you put off looking at your finances and figuring out what you need to be saving every month, the longer it's all going to take.

3. Do your taxes early. Around this time of year, we often see people apply for a mortgage, and the lender tells them that they need to do their taxes before they can get a loan or be pre-approved. Do your taxes early so that you’ll have your information ready.

These three things will help anyone who's looking to buy a home in 2022 be better prepared. If you have any other questions, feel free to reach out via phone or email. I look forward to hearing from you.
