The upcoming year will likely see heightened competition in low inventory markets. This will be particularly evident in neighborhoods with single-family homes that are closely situated to the city and boast highly rated schools. Expect significant price increases in these sought-after areas.

While the number of homes bought and sold in DC is anticipated to increase in 2024, it's important to note that these levels may still fall short of what we consider “normal.” This trend indicates a cautiously optimistic market recovery.

In a lighter note, as 2024 is an election year, I fully expect to field a multitude of queries about how the political climate will impact the DC real estate market. If I had to guess, I'd say the number of times I’ll be asked this question might exceed 30 – and that's a conservative estimate!
